Third day - Tulum + Snorkeling

Tuesday we woke up really early because the van was going to pick us up at 7:30 to take us to Tulum, a city famous for its Mayan Pyramids. It was amazing to see how a civilization that started 3114 years before Christ could build such amazing things.

Was a crazy hot day so it was a relief to go do some snorkeling - another thing I had never done before - we went to Akumal a beautiful beach that it is a nesting ground for sea turtles, "Akumal" actually means "place of the turtles" in the Mayan language.
We snorkeled for one hour an a half and even though I did swallow some water, it was a incredible experience to see so many sea turtles so close to us. We did take some pictures with an underwater camera but we still need to develop the pictures... So I'll post a picture I found on the Internet :)

Second day - Xplor

Monday morning I woke up with a big smile on my face and a ring on my finger (it wasn't a dream!). I haven't stop smiling since. We had a trip planned to the Xplor, the newest natural park in the Riviera Maya where we went zip-lining, swam in underground rivers, rode in amphibious cars and paddle from inside a raft. I have never done any of those things before and I was specially scared with the zip-lining thing... I have to say that I had a BLAST! Everything was so cool and was really nice for our burnt skin that every activity we did involved cool, nice water.
Food was also really great, eat as much as you want, anytime you want :)

These pictures are so cool and some of them even look like they are fake! But they are real and the place is amazing!

Amphibious vehicles

Rafts

Caves!

Underground rivers

Freaking out on the zip line

I highly recommend, the underground rivers are something you cannot find everywhere...

For dinner we had a reservation at Don Diego, the Mexican restaurant in our resort. It's cool that these reservations were also included in our package, so you could eat in a nice a la carte restaurant for "free"!
The food was really delicious and the service was awesomely great (!)

Welcome drink :)

Chicken Quesadilla

This was a fish dish... delicious but I don't remember the name (please forgive my burnt skin)

At the end of our meal the manager brought us three bottle of homemade tequila made just with white tequila and fruit (mango, pineapple and coconut) to sample. Was the best tequila I've ever tried :p

I wish we had bought some...

Delicious, perfect day in Mexico...

Eu preciso dizer que eu me diverti a valer!

First day + exciting news

On Sunday (June 10th) we woke up around 8 and went out for breakfast. There was so much food we didn't know what to choose, everything was delicious!
After that we went to check it out the beach and it was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen! Turquoise sea, white sand. Welcome to the Caribbean Sea!

We spend the day at the beach, we were just a few steps from the hotel so we could go back anytime for food and drinks. We were in paradise. I was in so much peace and seeing my baby having so much fun melted my heart, "I've never loved no one like I love him" was a constant thought.

After a full day in the water we came back to our room to take a shower and get ready for dinner and that's when he started to behave a little funny. He asked me what I was going to wear - which is fine because he always asks so he won't be under/overdressed - but then he asked me if I was going to put some make-up on... we walked out of the room and when we got to the lobby he asked me to stay there because he was going to get a paper from the room. I had no idea what was going on... We went to the restaurant for dinner and  asked what was up with that paper and he said it was a letter, so I asked if I could read and he said he would give it to me later...

After dinner we went to the beach, was already dark and there was no one around. We sat on the chairs and I asked if I could finally read the letter, he said yes but where we were was too dark so we walked up to another spot at the beach that had a little light. When we got there I noticed he was a little shaky, nervous, but I was still completely oblivious about what was about to happen...
Before I continue here is one thing about Dave: He is one of the most romantic people I know and he lets me know all the time, everyday how much he loves me, so when he held my hands and start saying how much he loves me, and his life is much better with me around and that he want to grow old with me and I was just there saying "me too, baby!", how clueless I was!
We hugged and then he went down on one knee and said: "Baby, would you marry me?"

OH MY GOD!

All I could say was "Of course!" And right there I'm sure I was the happiest person in the World!

I asked him to do it again so I could take a picture :p

 So happy!

I thought it was over but it wasn't. After he put the ring on my finger he showed me the letter. There were two. One he wrote to my dad (he asked a friend to translate from English to Portuguese) saying amazing things about me and asking his permission to marry me and the other letter was from my dad (he asked my sister to translate from Portuguese to English!) saying that he and my mom were very happy and they were giving their blessing. When I saw those letters I couldn't help but cry, big happy tears.

The proposal was beyond anything I've ever imagined. Was special, intimate, just me, him and God as witness. And I didn't need anything else.

The start of our trip - USA to Mexico

I just got back from Mexico and I have so much to tell, but let's start from the beginning, ok?

We had planned this trip for months and we wanted to rest so we booked 5 nights at the all-inclusive resort
Viva Wyndham Maya Resort
in Playa del Carmen.

We left Boston on Saturday around 10:30am (the flight was 2:30pm ...) and we had to stop in Philadelphia before flying to Cancun.

Our first plane was an Embraer (!!!) And I was feeling all giddy because it was a Brazilian plane; the only problem is that it was tiny (two rows with two seats each ...) so every breeze was as if we were on a roller coaster but we arrived in Philadelphia safe and sound so I gave credit to the high level of safety of the Brazilian aircraft...  lol

When we arrived in Philly we saw this Liberty Bell made of Legos and I thought it was pretty cool :)

We arrived in Cancun around 10:30pm, we went through Mexican Immigration (they were very nice by the way) and when we left the airport in Dave's words: "I thought they had turned on the heat to maximum!" hehehehehe the heat and humidity was absurd, something crazy! It remind me the first time I went to Cuba, I had no idea what was going on, I just wanted someone to turn off the oven!

We took the van we had booked and after nearly an hour we arrived at the resort. The room was huge, with terrace and view of the "Relax Pool" (a smaller pool where only adults went - the resort had teenagers all over the place but they did not like this pool ... hehehe). We took a tour of the Resort, we went to the beach and went to sleep because our vacation was just starting ...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sissyzinha :p

What a beautiful day! And it's much better because it's my sissy's bday today!
I have amazing memories with her, we laugh til we can't breathe, we have stupid jokes that just us will understand, she always helped me and I always tried to help her.
I love her with all my heart and I wish i could fly to Vegas right now to celebrate with her.
I love you Deinha, you make me so happy and I can't wait to see you again!!
